This Privacy Policy explains how KNAB Money, LLC ("KNAB," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the KNAB website, mobile application, and related services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

  • Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials.
  • Financial data via Plaid. When you connect a bank or financial account, our data provider Plaid Inc. ("Plaid") securely retrieves account balances, transactions, and category information on your behalf. KNAB never sees or stores your bank login credentials — you enter them with Plaid, not with us.
  • Usage information. We collect limited technical data such as device type, app version, and basic diagnostics to keep the Service reliable.
  • Information you provide. Budgets, categories, notes, and other settings you create within the Service.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • provide the core Service — importing transactions, building your ledger, and forecasting your cashflow;
  • maintain, secure, and improve the Service;
  • communicate with you about your account, including support requests and important service notices; and
  • comply with legal obligations.

How we protect your data

Security is foundational to the Service:

  • On supported mobile devices, your session is encrypted and stored in secure device storage. We hold the data, not the keys to your bank.
  • Connections to financial institutions are brokered by Plaid using bank-grade encryption.
  • Access to production systems is restricted and logged.

No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using commercially reasonable safeguards.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or financial information to third parties. We do not use your financial data for advertising.

When we share information

We share information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers. With vendors who help us operate the Service — for example Plaid (bank connectivity) and our hosting and infrastructure providers — under contracts that limit their use of your data to providing services to us.
  • Legal requirements. When required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request.
  • Protection of rights. To protect the rights, property, or safety of KNAB, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal and financial data within a commercially reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to withdraw consent for certain processing. You can:

  • disconnect a linked financial account at any time from within the app;
  • request a copy or deletion of your data; and
  • close your account.

Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the Service.
